Job description

Lead an effective operation across a small number of production lines within your cell, taking full accountability for employee and operational performance against targets.

Manage and develop employees and workers on your lines to ensure delivery against our Safety, Quality, Service, Cost and People Objectives.

Accountable for the successful operation and manning within the assigned production cell.

Actively seek and recommend continuous improvements, minimise downtime and maximise line performance without compromising on quality.

Responsibilities

Quality

  • Ensure Quality Service Levels are maintained
  • Maintain and drive quality standards with a ‘right first time’ attitude/mentality
  • Maintain a good working relationship with quality control personnel

Technical 

  • Maintain and drive all compliance standards across the line
  • Audit line compliance against standards
  • Be a champion for ‘what good looks like’

Packaging

  • Ensure packaging waste is minimised and accurately recorded
  • Maintain packaging traceability

Stocks and Planning

  • Ensure the production plan is adhered to both in terms of line and sequence
  • Ensure accurate recording of; WIP in, WIP out, back to stores, class 2/3 and waste
  • Responsible for ensuring works orders are completed 100% accurately by Key Operatives with assistance from you when required Finance/Costing
  • Ensure accurate recording of downtime and labour used
  • Ensure any additional costing information is recorded; extra sorters, extra processing etc.
  • Ensure relevant/correct job category is recorded

Health and Safety and Hygiene

  • Ensure CAYG (clean as you go) standards are maintained and other internal hygiene policies/standards are adhered to
  • Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and all near misses, accidents and hazards are reported in a timely fashion and hazards/near misses are corrected and any unsafe behaviour addressed accordingly

People

  • Ensure employees on the line are inducted and given full training to do their role safely and efficiently
  • Ensure effective management of resources and skills
  • Ensure Key Operative role is effective and colleagues are fully trained with deputies in place
  • Raise any productivity/performance concerns with employees to the Section Manager

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in a quality focused role
  • Knowledge of Top seal, Flow wrap or punnet line machinery would be preferable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment
