Job Title: Customs Compliance & Technical Manager

Department: Woodside Global

Responsible to: Operations Manager

Working hours: 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Location: Head Office, 61 Carrickfergus Road, Ballynure

Job Summary:

We are seeking to appoint a Compliance & Technical Manager to join our ever evolving organisation, and become a key member of our customs & freight forwarding teams based at our Headquarters in Ballynure. This person’s primary role will be ensuring compliance of all import / export shipments handled and Customs Clearance facilities used.


The Person:

The successful candidate should have:

  • A great technical knowledge of customs, being self-sufficient in obtaining the latest developments
  • Be passionate about delivering outstanding technical knowledge and associated implications across the Woodside Group and also to our customers and partners
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills with the ability to communicate across different media
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A very strong overall I.T. knowledge as there will be exposure to a number of different operating systems


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Global & Brexit related customs compliance
  • Providing Technical Industry Compliance knowledge to support the Group and acting as the primary lead for the reliable sourcing of information for: Customs, BIFA, IIFA, Insurances, Destination requirements
  • Updating of Government information/legislation or organisational information and requirements and sharing this with the team and Group
  • Leading the audit and review of Customs declarations to ensure compliance.
  • Support in AEO Certification requirements
  • Support Audit and review of process and procedures (Customs / ISO / AEO)
  • Ongoing review and business support for the impact of Brexit
  • Brexit Customs Support (providing import support providing clear instructions for import entry amendment, identifying and managing duty mitigation opportunities and efficiencies, maintaining import records)
  • Import support (providing import support providing clear instructions for import entry amendment, identifying and managing duty mitigation opportunities and efficiencies, maintaining import records)
  • Export support (providing export support around documentation, managing transactions, booking shipments with freight forwarders, approval of charges, maintaining records)


Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Customs and/or Freight Forwarding environment
  • Up to date Customs knowledge
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft excel and other systems
  • Passion for Customs and Compliance related issues


Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous transport industry experience
  • Previous experience with Thyme IT or other viable customs systems
