Lettings Officer

37 hours per week

Up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lettings Officer to join our Lettings team on a permanent basis. Are you an organised and self-motivated person, able to work in a fast-moving environment and manage shifting priorities? Prior experience of working in a lettings environment in social housing is desirable, but not essential.

In this role you will be the first point of contact with new and prospective tenants, handling the lettings process for our social housing and new build properties. You will be responsible for ensuring that all criteria for letting our homes is met and that our properties and ready and of a good standard for new tenants to move into.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the advertising of anticipated empty homes using online platforms provided by our local authority partners.
  • Conduct initial contact calls with nominations to provide information, establish eligibility for housing with Worthing Homes and progress applications in liaison with colleagues 
  • Ensure that the allocation and letting of properties is undertaken in an appropriate and timely way, proactively monitoring and progressing the outcome of assessments and ensuring persistent focus on the allocation of empty homes to meet targets
  • Conduct viewings with nominations using remote working tools when on site.
  • Co-ordinate the completion of all required property processes and documents to ensure efficient letting of the properties
  • Accurately record information using appropriate systems with details of new lets and customer information.
  • Meet tenants in their homes to conduct a pre-vacation visit before they leave.

About You

  • You will be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working directly with customers.
  • You must be highly organised and able to prioritise a varied workload amongst competing demands.
  • You will be adept at remaining calm under pressure, and able to problem solve when dealing with difficult situations and competing priorities, ensuring you deliver results to tight deadlines
  • Experience of providing a front-line service to customers in social housing or similar organisation is desirable along with knowledge of housing legislation and other landlord related obligations
  • You will be adept with technology with the ability to use Microsoft 365 and mobile working equipment.
