Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway..

Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Methods Engineer within the Major Structures Design team.

To deliver high quality and safe work methods within the HS2 project following the Temporary Works requirements defined by BBV and especially:

  • To define the site installations provisions related to each working site.
  • To define the related work sequences related to the delivery of each part of assets.
  • To define the lifting plans related to any lifting operation including the design of the lifting equipment.
  • To share the temporary works concept required with the Temporary Works teams.
  • To participate to the elaboration of the technical parts of the Scope of Works with the construction teams, with respect to the consultation of equipment supplier or manufacturer.
  • To supervise, review and validate the elaboration of drawings related to the aforementioned.

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a method engineer on Civil Engineering major construction projects.
  • Skills in designing formwork, scaffold and falseworks.
  • Knowledge of lifting equipment (mobile crane, crawler crane, lifting gears, tower crane).
  • Ability to develop construction sequence.
  • Design of steel and concrete structure.
  • Good skills in hydraulics equipment such as single and double acting jacks, hollow core jacks, hydraulic power packs.
