Carers First is an organisation that works with vulnerable adults and children. This post is exempt under the “Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975”, and therefore you are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings that are not "protected" (i.e. filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). All positions within Carers First will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check. Declaration of an offence may not automatically exclude you from appointment. The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. All information provided to us will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
